BRAZILIAN INFLUENCERS ARE INVESTIGATED IN PORTUGAL

This week the Portuguese newspaper Expresso divulged part of the content of an investigation in course in Portugal against 22 Brazilian influencers.

This operation by the Service of Foreigners and Borders (SEF) is investigating at least 22 Brazilian influencers for suspicions of illegal immigration, scams in Portuguese soil, and even suspicion of unlawful legal advice services.

According to the investigation, almost all the suspects are young individuals who have arrived some time ago – 3 or 4 years at most – and share they lives in a daily basis, encouraging other Brazilians to come to the European country as tourists and just stay there.

It only takes, indeed, a brief search on the web or video platforms to come across countless demonstrations of how it is the routine in Portugal and impressions of video creators. It is not difficult to find these ‘influencers’ selling unreal dreams, dreams of a perfect life and encouraging illegal immigration, even teaching what to do to bypass the immigration system.

Many of these offenders offer legal advice without a license for doing so. Keep in mind that to deliver legal services in Portugal, as well as in Brazil, the professional must be duly registered in the country bar association.

Although the exponential increase in Brazilians immigrating to Portugal, after the new incentives of the Portuguese government, the immigratory process is still bureaucratic; however, it is necessary once this is the LEGAL pathway to enter the country.

Unfortunately, many of citizens, when seduced by unreal promises of an easy life in Europe, make such mistakes and are in the hands of scammers, not only at their entrance into the Portuguese territory, but also in other moments, such as renting places to live, vehicles and even when getting their documents issued or opening bank accounts.

Our team is against any type of illegal movement, we never take part in scams or immigration services without the appropriate authorization.
